Intro to Shinnyo Series: Merit Transfer Service

We invite you to join us for our Intro to Shinnyo Series: Merit Transfer Service on June 22!

The merit transfer rite originates from the time of Shakyamuni Buddha, and is a consolatory ritual that alleviates the suffering of souls or spirits beyond our current realm of existence. We invite you to learn more about this practice in the context of Shinnyo Buddhism.

The service will be conducted so that is approachable and meaningful for those who are new to Shinnyo-en, as well as those who have an established practice.

Program:

  • Merit Transfer Service (11am - 12pm)

    • Sutra Chanting

    • Live Talk

    • Teaching by Master Shinnyo Kyoshu

    • Guided Meditation

  • Light Refreshments / Q&A (12pm onwards)

    • Light refreshments in the Harmony Room

    • Optional Q&A in Lecture Room 1

This service will also be streamed via Zoom. Please contact us at nyoffice@shinnyoenusa.org if you would like to participate virtually.
